FIFA has officially set the dates for two major tournaments that will take place in Qatar later this year. The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 is scheduled to kick off on December 1, with the final set for December 18 Qatar’s National Day. Meanwhile, the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will be held earlier, from November 3 to 27. The dates were confirmed during today’s FIFA Council meeting.
Sixteen national teams from across the Arab world will compete in the Arab Cup, which returns to Qatar for the second time after the country successfully hosted the tournament in 2021.
“Qatar will once again bring together people from across the region and beyond to celebrate the world’s favorite sport,” said H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for both tournaments. “The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 will once again capture the imagination of millions of football fans, while the U-17 World Cup offers a fantastic global stage for young players to shine.”
He added, “We look forward to welcoming players and fans to our world-class stadiums and offering them an unforgettable cultural and sporting experience. We truly believe in the power of sport to unite people and break down barriers, and that’s what motivates us to keep hosting these major international events.”
The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will be historic it will be the first edition to feature 48 teams, with 104 matches played over 25 days. Known for launching the careers of many football legends, the tournament will again draw global attention as fans watch for the next rising stars. Qatar will aim to beat its best-ever finish fourth place in the 1991 edition.
Details on stadiums and ticketing for both events will be announced in due course.
Qatar’s first time hosting the FIFA Arab Cup in 2021 was a major success, attracting fans from all over the world and delivering exciting matches. Algeria won the title after defeating Tunisia 2-0 in the final at the stunning Al Bayt Stadium on December 18, 2021.
Looking ahead, Qatar is also set to host the 2029 and 2033 editions of the FIFA Arab Cup, as well as five consecutive editions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, beginning this year.
