Real Madrid’s two key players are injured

Will they participate in the Club World Cup?

The devastation continues for Real Madrid. On Monday evening, the Spanish capital club, beaten 4-3 by Barcelona on Sunday, announced the injuries of Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez. The Brazilian will miss at least the next two La Liga matches but is expected to be fit for the Club World Cup (June 14 to July 13, 2025).

Both Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez, who suffered an injury during Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Barcelona in the El Clasico, are injured, according to the club, adding to the long list of Madrid players absent on Monday. The Spanish giants provided details of the two players’ injuries in two short statements: a “sprained left ankle” for Vinicius, and a lesion to the “left pectineus muscle” in the upper thigh for Vazquez. According to the Spanish press, the Brazilian and the Spaniard will miss at least the next two La Liga matches, where Real Madrid, seven points behind Barça in the title race, have little left to play for. However, they should be fit to compete in the Club World Cup starting on June 14.
