PSG’s Youth Development: Le Scornet as New Technical Director

After winning the Champions League and finishing as runner-up in the FIFA Club World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain has officially closed the curtain on its 2024-25 season. As the capital club moves to reinforce Luis Enrique’s squad and manage a significant squad overhaul, it’s also continuing to invest in its youth development structure.

On Wednesday, the 2025 Ligue 1 champions announced a notable addition behind the scenes.

“Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the appointment of Mathieu Le Scornet as the new Technical Director of the Youth and Pre-Academy Divisions,” the club said in an official statement.

A well-respected figure in youth development, Le Scornet spent 13 years at Stade Rennais, where he played a central role in shaping the club’s academy and pre-academy setup. Starting as a youth coach, he eventually led the U15 squad, winning several regional titles.

Le Scornet is credited with the individualized development of several standout talents, including Ousmane Dembélé and Desiré Doué, helping them progress through the ranks toward the elite level.

At PSG, his main mission will be to ensure the proper implementation of the club’s technical philosophy and training methodology at both the academy and pre-academy levels, with a focus on optimizing young players’ development.

Reporting directly to Yohan Cabaye, the Sporting Director of the Academy, Le Scornet will oversee the entire technical staff of the youth departments and ensure strong coordination with all departments involved in player development.

A strong move by PSG, reinforcing both its long-term vision and commitment to nurturing the stars of tomorrow.
